This is the page for when the shop doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for.
We’ve made custom signs, game boards, prototypes, jewelry, ornaments, wedding favors, corporate gifts, one-off keepsakes, and projects that don’t fit any category. If you have an idea, a photo, or a sketch, send it to us. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can make it, what it would cost, and how long it would take.
What we do
- Custom signs — business signs, cabin signs, address markers, family-name plaques, inspirational pieces, the “I saw this on Pinterest and want it in wood” request
- Custom game boards — cribbage boards in non-Michigan shapes, backgammon boards, euchre sets, cornhole boards with engraved scoring, and other games we haven’t thought of yet
- Personalized gifts — retirement gifts, anniversary gifts, employee recognition awards, memorial pieces
- Wedding + event favors — engraved coasters, place cards, ornaments, cake toppers, custom guest books
- Prototypes and small production runs — if you’re a maker or small business with a design that needs to be cut, engraved, or 3D printed, we can run it for you
- One-off art and decor — wall pieces, lake-depth charts, topographic maps, the “I don’t know what to call this but here’s a picture” request
What we don’t do
We don’t work with vinyl or pressure-treated lumber. We don’t do full-color printing (laser engraving is monochrome or burns brown). We don’t take on projects that require food-safe certification, structural engineering stamps, or production runs over 200 units without a custom quote.
If your project involves any of those, we’ll tell you up front and refer you to someone who can help.
How it works
1. Send us your idea. A photo, a sketch, a paragraph description — whatever you have. The contact form is the easiest way. Include quantity, deadline, and material preference if you have one.
2. We send back a quote. Usually within 24–48 hours. The quote covers design time, materials, production, and finishing. If we’re not the right shop for your project, we’ll tell you that too.
3. You approve the quote and we send a proof. For engraved pieces, you’ll get a digital mockup of what the finished piece will look like before we cut anything. Two rounds of revisions are included.
4. We build it. Most custom projects take 7–14 business days from proof approval to ship. Larger runs take longer; we’ll tell you the window when we quote.
5. We ship it. USPS Priority within the contiguous US, same as the shop.
Pricing
Custom project pricing depends on scope. A rough guide:
- Simple personalization (one side, standard fonts, stock wood species) — usually $30–$75 per piece
- Mid-complexity (multiple sides, custom art, special wood, unusual shapes) — usually $75–$200 per piece
- High-complexity (multi-part assemblies, prototypes, large-format work) — usually $200+ per piece, quoted by project
Bulk discounts kick in at 20+ units for most projects. Wholesale pricing is available for resellers — ask in your first message.
