The keychain for the person who stops explaining where they’re from.
A laser-cut keychain in the word NATIVE, with the Michigan mitten worked into the letterforms. Light maple across the front, dark walnut (or cherry) running through the middle as a horizontal stripe. The two-wood construction is the whole point — the outline of the state and the word “NATIVE” sit across the light-and-dark contrast. No paint, no stain, no dye. Just two different woods, laminated and cut.
2.9″ long, 0.92″ tall, about the size of a house key. Made in Michigan from Michigan-sourced hardwood. Toss it on the keyring and the next time someone says “where are you from?” you point at it.
Pick your wood combo:
- Maple & Walnut — pale wood, dark chocolate stripe. The classic.
- Maple & Cherry — pale wood, warm reddish-brown stripe. Warmer, leans cabin.

- A stocking stuffer, a birthday add-on, a “just because”
- Anyone who’s ever worn a “I ❤️ MI” shirt ironically
- The cabin, the lake house, the UP cottage, the dorm room at MSU
Care: Wipe with a dry cloth. The wood is finished but not waterproof — don’t soak it, don’t run it through the dishwasher, don’t leave it in the rain on the counter. If the finish dulls after a year on the keyring, a light wipe with a furniture-safe oil brings it back.
A note on the wood: Maple, walnut, and cherry all darken slightly with age and UV. The keychain you get today is a half-shade lighter than the keychain you’ll have in five years. That’s the wood aging; not a defect. The two-tone contrast holds either way.
