Somebody in the group always loses the pencil. Somebody else always argues about whether it’s 7 or 9. This is the fix.
A pocket-sized hardwood scorekeeper, hand-cut in Michigan, built for the only card game that ends friendships and starts them again. Small enough to live in a coat pocket or a kitchen drawer. Tough enough to get passed around the table for the next twenty years of Friday nights.
What it tracks:
- Each team’s score through the hand
- Games won in the match
- Current trump for the hand in play
- All markings laser-engraved — won’t wear off like printed ones do
Why this one over the others:
- Metal pegs, not plastic. They don’t snap, they don’t lose color, and they click into the holes with a satisfying snap. Spare set is small enough to live in a kitchen junk drawer.
- Pocket-sized. 3″ × 5″ — about the size of a deck of cards. Tosses in a coat pocket, a travel bag, or the side pocket of a tackle box for the cabin.
- Mixed Michigan hardwoods. Every board is a different piece of wood with its own grain, color, and character. The one you get is the one you get — no two are alike, and we think that’s the point.
- Peg storage on the back. Pegs ride along with the board; nothing rolls off the table between hands.
- Krylon Satin clear finish. Seals the wood without turning it plastic. The grain and color stay real; the surface just shrugs off a spilled drink instead of soaking it in.

Custom wood: Want a specific species (walnut, maple, cherry, oak)? Mention it in the order notes and we’ll do our best to match. The board is too small for custom engraving, but the larger version in our shop has room for that.
Care: Wipe with a dry cloth. Skip the dishwasher and the drinks — the finish is water-resistant, not waterproof, and the metal pegs will pit if you store them wet. If the satin finish dulls after a few years of use, a light wipe with a furniture-safe oil brings it back.
A note on the wood: Every board is cut from a different piece of hardwood, so the color and grain pattern you see in the listing photos is close but never exact. That’s not a defect — it’s the reason hardwood beats plastic. If we can’t match a species request, we’ll let you know before we cut anything.
